Haryana CM Saini Orders Strict Action: Ensure No Pakistani Stays Beyond Deadline for Leaving India

Amid escalating geopolitical tensions and following recent security threats, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has issued a clear directive to all district commissioners (DCs) and superintendents of police (SPs) to ensure that no Pakistani national remains in the state beyond the deadline set by the Indian government for their departure. As of April 27, 2025, the central government has revoked all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, with a strict deadline for them to leave the country. The deadline has been set to ensure national security and to prevent any possible security risks amid heightened concerns.

This directive comes as part of India's broader effort to tighten control over foreign nationals from Pakistan in the wake of increasing tensions. The move follows a communication from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who emphasized the urgency of the situation and instructed all states to ensure that Pakistani nationals comply with the exit deadline. Exceptions are being made for long-term visa holders and those with medical visas, who have been granted an extension until April 29, 2025.

In Haryana, authorities are closely monitoring approximately 250 Pakistani nationals who entered the state in recent months on various types of visas, including tourist, business, and medical visas. State intelligence agencies have been tasked with verifying the identity of each individual and ensuring they leave the state on time. At the same time, Haryana's leadership is focused on maintaining the safety and security of other residents, particularly over 1,100 Kashmiri students studying in the state’s educational institutions. CM Saini has ensured that district administrations are in close contact with these institutions to address any concerns and offer support to the students.

This strict approach reflects Haryana's commitment to national security while balancing the need to ensure that the welfare and safety of students and residents remain intact. The directive has garnered significant attention as it underscores the state’s readiness to implement measures that prioritize security and protect citizens in times of heightened geopolitical tensions.
